Fourteen-year-old Will Brewster stole the headlines as Boston Cricket Club completed a clean sweep of victories over the weekend.

Brewster took 6-24 as the Sunday Second XI overcame Rustons at the Mayflower. Rustons were bowled out for 88, before Boston reached the winning line with just two wickets down.

The Sunday First XI had enjoyed an even easier ride in the first round of the Premier Trophy, thrashing Premier Division side Hykeham by 10 wickets. The visitors were skittled for 33 (Kevin Brooks 5-7), before Jonathan Cheer notched an unbeaten 33 as Boston strolled home.

On Saturday, the First XI continued their 100 percent start to the season with a six-wicket win over Bourne in SLBL Division One. The visitors were restricted to 115-7, before Tom Baxter (57 not out) led the victory charge, for the loss of four wickets.

The Third XI were 19-run winners over Moulton Harrox in SLBL Division Three. Boston were dismissed for 109, but Gary Thirkell and Max Priestley shared eight wickets as the hosts were bowled out for 90 in reply.

On Saturday, the First XI recorded an excellent SLBL Division One and Winkworth Cup double header victory over Oakham. Lee Brooks top scored with 62 not out as Boston posted 211-9, before Oakham were restricted to 195-8.

The Second XI lost by four wickets to Moulton Harrox in their opening SLBL Division Two fixture.

The First XI opened their SLBL Division One season with a five-wicket victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Billingborough at the Mayflower on Saturday.

Boston restricted Billingborough to 150-9 off 45 overs, before passing the winning line for the loss of five wickets in reply. Jonathan Cheer (60 not out), skipper Alan Mountford (37) and Rob Grant (three wickets and 27 not out) were Boston’s top performers.

The scheduled Winkworth Cup tie against Oakham on Sunday fell to the wet weather. This Saturday’s SLBL Division One game against Oakham will now become a league and cup double header.

Three friendly fixtures have also been played so far this season, with a victory over Bingham and defeats to Graves Park and Alford. Full scorecards are available on http://boston.play-cricket.com. Youngsters Josh Butler and Will Brewster have taken their first senior wickets for Boston during these fixtures.

This Sunday’s scheduled First XI Lincoln League fixture against Saxilby has been moved to August 24. Meanwhile, Timberland have withdrawn from Division One, meaning Boston will contest two fewer fixtures than originally scheduled.

To compensate for the loss of the Saxilby fixture, Cleethorpes Academy will visit the Mayflower on Sunday for a friendly, 1.30pm start.
